Stockton
Borough School
Music Project for Intermediate Grades 3-6
You will complete a music research project during the third marking
period. You may choose your project
from these choices or you may meet with Mrs. Ivans if you have another idea for
your project.
Composer
Biography
You will use different sources, such as books or the Internet, to complete a
research report about a famous composer, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Irving
Berlin, or John Lennon. It is
important that you pick a person who is interesting to you, someone you want to
learn more about. Your research
project will have a written section, a cover page, at least one visual (such as
a picture or a map), and a bibliography that lists the different sources where
you found your information.
Grading Criteria and Due Dates
Music
Genre Report and CD Collection of Songs
You will select a musical genre, such as Broadway Musicals, American
Folk Music, or 60’s Rock ‘N Roll. Or
you may pick music from a particular band or musician that demonstrates growth
or change over a period of time. Using
different reference sources, you will create note cards to use for a five-minute
oral presentation about your music genre, group, or musician.
To accompany your talk you will burn a CD with a collection of songs.
Note: all music is to be appropriate in a school setting and you/your
family must own the CDs, used to create your new CD.
Grading Criteria and Due Dates
Original
Composition(s)
Create and record your own music and present at least one song.
Using the tutorial and resources from “Print Music” software or your
own resources, create lyrics and melody for at least one original piece.
Present your piece to the class. Share
your journey on how you created this piece and be prepared to answer questions
from other students.
Grading Criteria and Due Dates
Classroom time and school materials (reference materials, software,
blank CD’s & burner) will be used to complete your projects.
However, some of you may need to work after school and use your own
materials (original CDs) to complete your projects.
