on tax levy)
- South Hunterdon Regional High School: decrease of
$36.
- Combined: increase of $23 per average assessed
home.
|
| Other Interesting Data |
- The significant decrease in the tax rate was due to the recent
reassessment of the Stockton Borough.
- There are no significant new school initiatives built into the 2007-08
budget. Planned health curriculum materials purchases will be made as
funds allow over the next two years.
- We are currently in teacher negotiations for the coming school year.
- We utilize grants and PTO and LAEF (our local education foundation) donations to offset
educational costs.
- Health benefits and energy increases have exceeded cost of living CAP
allowances, which is set at 4%.
- No Child Left Behind funding is currently facing cuts of Title V which
will impact upon our NCLB grant.
- Changes in funding for the NJ pension system have significantly increased
the burden from the state to local school boards.
- Banked Cap - available to districts such as ours who did not go to full
cap in past years is no longer available.
- The school year runs from June 30th- July 1st while the local tax levy
that comes from municipalities has a calendar from January 1st to December
31st. Therefore the taxes needed to be raised from one school year are
calculated from two calendar years- 1/2 at the previous year's rate and 1/2
at the current year's rate.

Candidate for Election
to the Stockton School Board.
Personal Statement: Incumbent Richard McDaniel
I am running for the board for my third term and I look forward to
continuing my involvement with the Stockton School during the next three
years. It is an exciting time for Stockton as we conduct much needed
repairs and restoration of our school house. We have a rich history
that will be preserved with the help of the State Historic Trust and the New
Jersey DOE as well as the people of Stockton.
