Phase I Project at Stockton Borough School
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the
STOCKTON BOROUGH Board of Education, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, will receive
sealed bids for Phase
I Project at Stockton Borough School on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 4:00 pm (prevailing
time)
at the Office of the Chief
School Administrator, 19 South Main Street, Stockton, New Jersey 08559.
The sealed bids will be publicly opened and read immediately thereafter.
In order to be considered a
prequalified bidder, prospective contractors must appear on the State of New
Jersey’s list of Classified Contractors for Historical Restoration (C024) as
promulgated by the Department of the Treasury’s Division of Property
Management and Construction with an Aggregate Rating appropriate to the
estimated aggregate construction cost. This project is estimated to have an
aggregate construction cost of approximately $445,000.

Each bid when submitted shall be
accompanied by a Bid Bond drawn to the order of The Stockton Borough Board of
Education, on the form furnished with the Bid Documents, for a sum of 10% of the
total bid amount (not to exceed $20,000).
The STOCKTON BOROUGH Board of Education reserves the
right to accept any bid meeting specifications regardless of price.
The Board also reserves the right to accept any portion of the bid, waive
any irregularities in bidding, and to proceed in any manner considered in its
best interest.
No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60)
days after the date set for the opening thereof.
The right is reserved to reject any or all bids or to
waive informality in the bidding if it is in the interest of the Board of
Education to do so, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-1 et seq.
Bidding shall be in conformance with the applicable
requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-1 et seq., pertaining to the “Public School
Contracts Law.”
All Bidders are subject to various
statutory and regulatory provision of New Jersey law, including but not limited
to: N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.25 et seq.
(P.L.1963 c.150); (Prevailing Wages); and N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. (P.L.1975,
c.127) (Non-Discrimination); P.L. 1975, c. 127 (N.J.A.C. 17:27), N.J.S.A.
10:5-31, et seq. and P.L. 1999, c. 238, “The Public Works Contractor
Registration Act.”
Bid Documents
for the above listed contract (consisting of drawings and Project Manual including
specifications) will
be available at a pre-bid meeting to be held on March 24, 2008 at 8:30 AM (rain
or shine) at the STOCKTON BOROUGH BOARD OF EDUCATION offices at 19 NORTH MAIN
STREET, STOCKTON, NEW JERSEY. A
walk-through of the building will immediately follow the pre-bid meeting. The
pre-bid conference will begin promptly. A $75.00 non-refundable payment for Bid
Documents must be in the form of a company check or money order made payable to
the Historic Building Architects, LLC. Subsequent
visits to the site must be arranged in advance by appointment only by contacting
Suzanne Ivans, CSA, School Administrator (as noted above).
After the pre-bid meeting, Bid Documents will be
available for review or purchase from either the Clerk’s Office, Stockton
Borough Hall, 2 South Main Street, Stockton, NJ 08559, tel 609-397-0070
(Attention: Lynne Tuzik, Deputy Clerk, or Barbara Mudryk), Monday through
Thursday, 8:30 am to 1:30 pm or from Historic Building Architects, LLC during
regular business hours (as noted above).
Bid proposals must be received at
the Stockton Borough Board of Education by no later than Tuesday, April 22 at
4:00 pm, at which time a public opening of the bids will be held.
Provided that a bona-fide proposal within the project
budget is received, the Stockton Borough Board of Education intends to award a
contract for construction as soon at their regularly scheduled meeting to be
held Thursday, April 24, 2008.
Construction must occur during a
ten-week period starting at the end of June 2008 and be thoroughly completed in
time for the 2008-2009 school year by the end of August 2008.
